WHO YOU’LL SEE SHOWJUMPING AT THE FEI WORLD EQUESTRIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS AACHEN 2026
The best riders in the world are meeting in Aachen for the FEI World Championships, and our region’s athletes are amongst them.
Riders from across the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia will be competing in showjumping, eventing, and dressage. The line-up features full teams from Egypt and the UAE, plus proven Olympic stars from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, and more. Everyone back home will have their eyes on Aachen as these riders compete for top honours and a ticket to the LA28 Olympics.
The course will be designed by Frank Rothenberger with Saniago Varela as a technical delegate.

SHOWJUMPING COMPETITION SCHEDULE & FORMAT:
- Horse Inspection on Monday 17 August at 17:00
- Horse re-Inspection on Tuesday 18 August at 7:45 am
- Speed Round on Wednesday 19 August at 9:30 am
All athletes and horses ride as fast as possible. Knocking off a rail adds seconds to time instead of standard points. The fastest overall rider gets 0 penalty points. Everyone else gets points based on how much slower they were than the leader.
- Team Final Round 1 on Thursday 20 August at 9:00 am
- Team Final Round 2 on Friday 21 August at 18:50
Two standard rounds where knocking down a rail costs 4 penalty points. Thursday will host Round 1 while Friday night will host Round 2. Each country drops their lowest score per round, counting only their top 3 riders. All points from Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are added together. The team with the fewest faults at the end of Friday wins Team Gold.
- Individual Final on Sunday 23 August
Only the top 25 individual riders advance to Sunday. They jump one course, then the top 12 with no faults jump a second, even tougher course. Points carry over from the entire week. The rider with the fewest total points after all 5 rounds becomes Individual World Champion.
