WORLD NUMBER ONE & SIX OTHER TOP 20 RIDERS TO COMPETE AT CSIO BARCELONA - LLN 2026 FINAL
The 114th CSIO Barcelona will bring some of the biggest names in international showjumping to the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona from 1 to 4 October. The entry list includes seven riders ranked among the world’s top 20, led by Germany’s Richard Vogel, the current world number one and 2025 European individual champion.
Among his rivals will be Britain’s Scott Brash, world number three and a two-time Olympic team champion, at London 2012 and Paris 2024. Also in the top 20 are Italy’s Piergiorgio Bucci (7th); American McLain Ward (9th), winner of the 2017 FEI World Cup Final; France’s Julien Epaillard (11th), winner of the same title in 2025; American Laura Kraut (12th), an Olympic medallist; and Germany’s Sophie Hinners (17th), a member of the team that won world gold in Aachen this summer.
The entrants’ achievements extend well beyond their current rankings. Barcelona will also welcome Brazil’s Rodrigo Pessoa, individual Olympic champion at Athens 2004 and a three-time FEI World Cup Final winner, and Germany’s Marcus Ehning, who has won that final three times as well. Ireland’s Cian O’Connor, individual Olympic bronze medallist at London 2012, adds to the line-up of champions.
Among the Spanish riders, Armando Trapote stands out after finishing tenth at the 2026 World Championships in Aachen, as does Imma Roquet, who placed twentieth on her World Championship debut. They will be joined by Sira Martínez, a rider and ambassador for CSIO Barcelona.
CSIO Barcelona will stage twelve competitions over four days. Its three headline events are the Gran Premi de la Ciutat de Barcelona – Calvet 75th Anniversary Trophy on Friday evening; the Queen’s Cup – KAR Sport Horses Trophy – Generalitat de Catalunya Prize on Saturday evening; and the Longines League of Nations™ Final on Sunday, featuring the eight qualified nations and host country Spain.
