SCOTT BRASH DOMINATES IN DOHA WITH TWO GRAND PRIX WINS - HH THE FATHER AMIR’S PRIX
Three major showjumping events are currently taking place across the Middle East, all of which commenced on 7 January.
The events have attracted a high calibre of international talent. The Abu Dhabi field features riders including Henrik von Eckermann, Ramzy Al Duhami, Sophie Hinners, and Daniel Deusser. In Doha, the British contingent is particularly strong, with Olympic teammates Scott Brash and Harry Charles in competition against local and other international talent.
In Kuwait, a CSI3*-W World Cup qualifier concluded today. Kuwait’s Fawaz Rashed, riding Naya Sjk, won the CSI3*-W Small Tour Grand Prix, while Abdullah Al Awadhi, riding D-Day van de Keihoeve Z, secured victory in the CSI3*-W Medium Tour Grand Prix. Meanwhile, in Abu Dhabi, the CSI5* UAE President’s Cup continues, with the Grand Prix scheduled for tomorrow. See all results here
The CSI5* and second leg of HH The Father Amir’s Prix in Doha also concluded today. Scott Brash, riding Hello Chadora Lady won the CSI3* Grand Prix, while Qatar’s Hussain Said Haidan, riding D Saucedo, won the CSI1* Grand Prix.
Notably, Abdel Saïd is competing in both 5* events; riding Arpege du Ru, he won the CSI5* 150m class in Abu Dhabi on Friday before flying to Doha to secure a second-place finish behind Brash in the CSI3* Grand Prix on Saturday, riding Wathnan Calvaro.
During the CSI5* Grand Prix in Doha, only nine out of 39 starters progressed to the jump-off on a course designed by Bernardo Costa Cabral. France’s Megane Moissonnier, riding Crooner Tame, took second place following a clear round in 42.78 seconds. Having also won Friday's 6-bar competition on Chacarija PS, she was joined on the podium by the USA’s Eve Jobs, who took third riding Canto Bruno and again Scott Brash riding Hello Jefferson in top spot following a flawless clear round in 42.66 seconds.
