DARRAGH KENNY KEEPS COOL AND WINS THE '1.55M CANADIAN UTILITIES CUP' AT SPRUCE MEADOWS PAN AMERICAN
Day 2 - CSI5* Spruce Meadows Pan American Presented by Rolex
In a very testy course designed by Mexico’s Anderson Lima for the 1.55m Canadian Utilities Cup, 17 riders advanced to the jump-off in pursuit of a share of the $94,410 prize pool. Some competitors rode two different horses, successfully clearing with both.
Jordan Coyle was the first to enter the jump-off on Jorisca, setting the pace to 40.78 seconds from the time allowed of 54 seconds. The 16 riders that followed faced difficulties at the combination jumps and at the turns especially as rain began to fall.
Matthew Sampson on Ebolensky and Sameh El Dahan on WKD Toronto were close to surpassing Coyle’s time but ultimately finished with faults.
The final rider, Olympic athlete and world no. 18 Darragh Kenny and his Zero K, completed a smooth and swift round, finishing in 40.72 seconds and surpassing Coyle’s time to claim his win.
