SENEGAL SET TO HOST YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES IN DAKAR IN 2026

This will be the first time an Olympic sports event is held in Africa.

Originally scheduled for 2022 and postponed to 2026, the Games, under the motto "Africa Welcomes, Dakar Celebrates", aim to leverage the Senegalese spirit of Teranga (hospitality) to inspire a new generation across Africa through sport and culture.

The Games start on the 31st of October and continue until the 13th of November. Only one equestrian discipline will take place: Jumping.

According to the FEI, a maximum of 24 nations (NOCs) can participate as the total quota is 24 athletes and the maximum quota per NOC is one (1) athlete.

The qualification system divides the world into six continental Groups, and each Group has a total quota of four (4) athletes (and thus, four NOCs).

The Africa Group has a maximum quota of four (4) athletes from four different African NOCs. However, since the Host Country (Senegal) automatically gets one spot from the African Group, the allocation is:

Three (3) NOCs through qualification.

One (1) Host Country NOC (Senegal), provided their athlete meets the eligibility requirements.

Nations qualify based on the individual final classification within their respective continental Group, until the four-athlete quota for that Group is reached.
