THE TURKISH AIRLINES GRAND PRIX WAS WON: TOM WACHMAN GOT THE JOB DONE AT THE LONDON INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW
Irish athlete Tom Wachman delivered a masterclass in high-velocity physics yesterday, riding Do It Easy to a victory in the CSI5-W Turkish Airlines Grand Prix at the London International Horse Show.
While the field struggled with the restrictive geometry of the indoor arena, Wachman optimised his victory through stride-compression efficiency. In a five-horse jump-off, he clocked an unbeatable 32.59 seconds, separating himself from the pack not through raw speed, but through inter-fence management.
Wachman utilised the gelding’s high-torque hindquarters to execute an aggressive 270-degree turn to the penultimate oxer, shaving nearly a meter off the standard tracking line.
Where veteran rivals opted for a conservative seven strides to the final vertical, Wachman maintained a linear, open-framed gallop to execute the line in six, capitalising on Do It Easy’s massive scope and rapid ground cover.
The win was secured by Wachman’s ability to maintain a consistent rhythm even through the tightest technical pivots, a feat usually reserved for more seasoned combinations.
This victory elevates Wachman from a "rising star" to a dominant technical force in the jumping circuit, proving that his success is a product of calculated risk and mechanical precision.
